ABOUT ME
I
was born in the 1950’s, and am married with children and grandchildren. I am a
“down to earth” person, and I have a sense of humour. My interests are music,
gardening, reading, time with family and friends, and days out.
I have a large collection of books on counselling, self-help, mind/body,
relationships etc, as I have always been interested in these for myself. I also
find poetry, music and quotes inspiring.
I love my work as a Counsellor and am
conscientious about it. I give the best service I can to my clients, with
integrity and sincerity, and genuinely care for any clients I see.
I am willing to work with anyone who
is of a different nationality, culture, religion, sexual orientation or who has
a disability, provided they feel OK
about it too.
I see individuals only, not couples.
Couples work requires extra training.
EXPERIENCE
I had 2 years experience as a
counsellor in a busy GP surgery. I also ran a Ladies’ self-help group for
one year in a community centre.
I
have had 3 years experience in a Secondary School, counselling both students and
staff. I have counselled children and young people in Foster Care and in an NHS
hospital.
For several years I
have worked in private practice, and as an Agency Counsellor for firms requiring
counselling for their employees.
I sometimes run
training courses: Confidence-building, Assertiveness, Stress, Anti-bullying,
Personal awareness etc.

The usual minimum requirement for a
counsellor to practise is a Diploma in Counselling . However it more crucial
that you choose a counsellor that you can trust and feel safe with.
I am a fully qualified counsellor with an extra qualification as an
Expressive Art Therapist. However Art Therapy is always an OPTION. Some
people find it easier to discover or express their feelings non-verbally, by
using art materials. You do not need to be good at drawing. It can be as simple
as picking up a coloured pencil and putting shapes or images.
I do not analyse what you draw, but help you to make sense of it. If you
prefer to talk only, that is fine.
From my CV you will see I have undertaken many extra courses on Stress, Drugs,
Sexuality, Culture, Loss & bereavement, Confidence, Life skills etc.
